Fishing for Tarpon is one of the most exciting fish we have to fish for here in Florida. Now combine tarpon fishing with sight fishing and you have twice the excitement. Once you have a chance to hook into one of these fish you'll know why we call them the "Silver King". Tarpon will test every skill you have as a fisherman. From their drag screaming runs to their acrobatic jumps there are times you wonder who has caught who. When it comes to fishing tarpon in the Central Florida area there are a few things you have to take into account. Tarpon are a migratory fish and can only be caught here during certain times of the year. On my charters you have a few choices when it comes to the size of tarpon we can target. On the beaches we have the big boys. In the rivers we have smaller fish that will give you a little more "air time". Click on this link for more info on Cocoa Beach Tarpon and on this link for Indian and Banana River Tarpon. So now you may be asking yourself why you don't here more about tarpon fishing in Central Florida? There are a few reasons. #1 we have such a fantastic red fishery most people come here to the reds. #2 Fishing the larger tarpon on the beaches can be difficult. The tarpon on the beaches are notorious for running the whole Central Florida coastline from Daytona Beach to Vero Beach. This means that they can be here great for 2 to 3 weeks then they are gone for a few days to a few weeks. #3 Weather. Most of the spring and summer is very fishable on the beaches but we do have some high seas every now and again too. Now the good news, The inshore tarpon are almost always there to fall back on. On my charters I will do everything possible to help you catch your the fish of your dreams. Since my specialty is sight fishing, I will show you how to really test you sight casting skills by giving you a chance to sight fish them. As most of you know there are no guarantees when it comes to tarpon fishing. In the event that they are not willing to play with us there are other fish we can target. We have a great number of redfish, trout and snook in this area that are happy to make a drag scream. So if the tarpon wont play you can still have a great time catching fish. I am a full time U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Captain with over 30 years experience sight fishing the Indian and Banana Rivers from Titusville to Cocoa Beach for redfish, trout, snook and tarpon.
